HNY!
December 31, 2007Just got back from Baguio. We spent the night at the Manor Hotel in Camp John Hay. Very, very nice weather!
Yesterday we ate lunch at the Baguio Country Club restaurant and saw the President there with her legion of bodyguards. We got some Starbucks soon after (I finally got the planner - moleskin yay) before returning to our hotel room where we just lounged around, enjoying the weather. For dinner, we ate at Dencio's and I even ran into some of my old high school classmates on the way there. We also took a walk down Session Road because they didn't want to return to the hotel just yet. Kuya bought mangoes with the chili salt, while Ate Feliza and Ate Awit bought turnip. Hah, cravings. I was too full so I didn't even ask for a bite. Back at the hotel, they had dessert. I could only manage to drink a glass of strawberry juice and have a small piece of Justin's (Ate Feliza's daughter) blueberry cheesecake. And then finally, we called it a night.
This morning we had breakfast at Le Chef at the Manor. I swear that if I didn't stop myself, I could've eaten thrice of what I had. It was all good, though. Thank God I still have some semblance of self-control left in me…
Anyhow, that was it. It was a quick trip and it's actually quite good to be back in a warmer (but still comfortable) climate. And I'm tired. It has been a somewhat gluttonous past couple of days. Although more gluttonous opportunities await me later, since it's New Year's Eve and all. Hehe!
A Happy and Prosperous New Year to everyone!
Euro Trip?
December 28, 2007Kuya and I were teasing The Grinch the other day to buy me a ticket to London. We were joking around about how he has so much money and that we should take advantage of him while he's single. Kuya even told me to just apply for a UK Visa because once I get it, The Grinch would most probably give in and send me to London. Haha.
Well, it's his fault. He was telling me a month ago that we should come and visit him in the UK. Uhm, hello? I would absolutely looove to go there, but the thing is: I can't afford it! And that's where he's supposed to come in… XD
Anyway, I was at Megamall from 2-4pm to do a little bit of shopping and I spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping. Now it's 12:34am and I am wide awake. I was reading friends' blogs and came upon this meme over at Chep's and tried it out:
| You Belong in London |
![]() A little old fashioned, and a little modern. A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock. A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything. No wonder you and London will get along so well. |
It's a sign! A sign, I tell ya! XD
Now I really need to practice the Queen's English…
The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta!
Hitler, good vibrations, etc.
December 24, 2007Yesterday at around dusk, I played with my dog, Hitler (a big ol' Rottweiler) and I was really glad to see him. There was something off about him, though. He let his tongue hang around the front of his snout even when he wasn't panting.
This morning, I learned that it wasn't actually Hitler, because the Rottie in the kennel was female. Initially, I thought that they moved him to the kennel at the back, but then one of the keepers in the house told me that he had died. I couldn't get myself to ask when and exactly how he died… I just felt kind of sad that I didn't even get to see the old boy one last time. *sigh*
* * *
Anyway, I just reconfirmed that I have this natural affinity with dogs.
Exhibit A: My dad's old dog used to snarl at my sister and not me.
Exhibit B: There was a time when I was walking on my way to work and there was a beautiful Rottie tied to a tree. Two guys went past the dog and the dog started barking like crazy at both of them. However, when it was my turn to pass, the dog just looked at me with cute, soulful eyes. I wanted to play with it, but I was running late. Besides, I didn't want doggie smell on my hands.
Exhibit C: Still-unnamed Rotties (at the house where I'm currently staying) who hasn't seen me before, never did bark at me. They even wanted to play!
Ah, good vibrations.

Going back to Manila on the 26th. If I can still take back the leaves I filed, I just might go to work on the 27th and 28th. Should be an interesting week.

Already got my Onitsukas! Funny thing about it is that I had this weird feeling that my brother would get the same style and color as Erik's (because they're about the same age and have the same taste). Lo and behold, he did. -_-; Erik and I are gonna be Onitsuka twins. Gah. This is why I specifically asked for a Mexico Tigress. *snarl*
Oh and I also got my Studio 60 mug! *happy*
Pre-Christmas Update
December 19, 2007Office talk:
- Our project finally went live barely two weeks ago. Cheers to the team and everyone involved!
- I'll be on leave on the 26th, 27th, and 28th, which means I have more than a week of pure Christmas vacation goodness. \m/
- Quick meeting today on our newest project. It's supposed to be a really big one. Lots riding on it. Our commercial arm in London is practically "salivating" over the project, revenue-wise. Ooh, pressure.
- Goodbye probationary crapness. I'm now a permanent employee! \m/
Family talk:
- It's almost Christmas! And two more days until I see my brothers and my nephew and my niece and everyone else. Yay!
- I don't have presents for them yet! *gasp*
- The Grinch has arrived from London. Haven't seen him yet, though. (But I want my Onitsuka Mexico 66 now! Hehe..)
- I wonder where my Mom and sister are spending Christmas. I wonder where I'm spending Christmas. I hope we're all gonna be in the same roof for Christmas. *cross fingers*
- Kuya, Colleen, Ethan and Ate Awit will be arriving Friday (and so will my Studio 60 mug!). Will probably take Colleen shopping at Powerbooks. That girl's a freaking genius and she loooves to read. I miss her and Ethan to bits!
General talk:
- Belated happy birthday, Fufuness! Waaa, I'm sooo bad. I still can't get over the fact that I forgot your birthday. Will make it up to you, promise! -_- Oh and thanks for the Christmas present!
- Congrats to Janvier on the arrival of her baby! Hope to see you and the little one before the year ends!
- Congrats to Gena, who's getting married January 5th, 2008!
- Welcome to the Christian world, Sean Patrick! I just hope Henry did the right thing by appointing me as one of your godparents. Heee. *kissyface*
- Uploaded pics at my multiply site. Oh, don't mind the title of the site. That's just a silly office developer thing. More power to the nerdoks. \m/
- Getting myself a laptop bag from Technochic tomorrow. It's about time Sabrina travels in style.
- Been sick for the last couple of days. It's probably the weekend's after-effect — too many people over at Megamall, hellishly hot weather, shopping galore.
- Thanks for the Tony Roma's steak and taters, Bok!
- And somehow I'm still thankful that BPI's system crapped out last weekend, or else I would have spent money like there was no tomorrow.
- Thanks to Erik (my officemate and soon-to-be neighbor), I now have the will power to save for a pair of Chocolate/Cotto Cleo Crocs. First, the Onitsukas… now this. Damn you, Cheong! Damn you! Haha! ("Are we that close?") Get well soon and see you next year!
- Thanks to Joseph, Jena, and Verna (all officemates) for the Christmas presents! Ahlavem!
- Need to do more Christmas shopping. Que horror…
Christmas Par-tay Aftermath
December 8, 2007It's finally over! Hah. No more thinking about budget and expenses and giveaways and shit. Wheeee! And I got so drunk, I threw up from drinking for the first time ever. Bwahahahahahaha! Saldy had to drive me home and assist me as I walked and went up the stairs. It's a weird feeling.
Anyway, I wish breakfast would come knocking on the door already. I need some food in my system, stat.
After one million years…
December 1, 2007… I finally have time to post! XD I've been quite busy–both in and out of work, so pardon the lack of posts from my end.
* * *
Our team has been working on this project for about two months and we're set to go live next week. So far, development work has been good. There weren't a lot of major hiccups and only a few minor issues–nothing that we can't handle. I'm just glad I'm working with the best people ever! Yay for Mike, Ela, Sha, Chris and Warrick!
* * *
I've been drinking a lot lately, too. Well, not a lot "a lot", but you know… more than before. I guess my "drinking practice" with Saldy, Joseph, and Henry finally paid off because beer suddenly doesn't taste like cat piss anymore. Now that's some serious practicing!
Anyhow, I had a couple of drinks last Monday and Tuesday. Come Wednesday, I went with the usual suspects (sans Joseph) to Cable Car in Makati. Other guys from the office went, too, like Alex (he had to leave early, though), Michael, John, Erik, and Charles. Charles brought three girls with him (one was his lady love). We did the karaoke thing again and played some pool. It was a good night. The expats showed off their rapping prowess (*sniggles*) and the booze was just flowing like crazy. I downed a liter of beer (they serve beer in these giant liter mugs) plus two more bottles. It's a personal record for me, if I may add. Saldy and Henry broke their records, too, by finishing off four liters! Good show!
About 2 or 3 in the morning, we all finally called it quits and went home. Funny thing about drinking that night was that everyone still had to go to the office the next day. I felt tired, yeah, and I was a little hungover when I woke up. But as soon as the Gatorade I drank that morning kicked in, all was good and it was as if nothing even happened.
Little bit of trivia for you: Gatorade and Hershey's milk chocolate are fantastic hangover remedies.

Hmm, I want new shoes…
