It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
November 28, 2006It’s beginning to smell like it, too! I remember spending Christmas 2002 back in Chatsworth and the smell of stew filling the whole house always gives me this dozy, euphoric feeling. Tonight we had the same stew for dinner. I’m doing the best I can to stay awake so I can still watch House.
It’s currently 8:39PM and it’s 35°F (1.6°C) outside. It’s a bit warmer inside the house but my hands are still cold. We’re still not using the heater and it’s alright. It’s going to get a lot colder later tonight but I’m not worried yet. I have my comforter, pillows, and Christmas the polar bear to keep me warm.
Today and my post-Thanksgiving weekend
November 27, 2006Just a recap.
Friday
So you already know that last Friday I went to Hooters with two of my friends, Jonsi and Raffy. It’s been more than two days and I’m still reeling from all the excitement. It was just one hell of a night and a much needed break. We watched the girls go Coyote Ugly — dancing on top of stools and counters for everyone to see. Jonsi was so into Kristi (our waitress) that he took quite a number of pictures of himself with her. He even asked for a number he could call so she could get a pin for being a good waitress. Haha! Raffy and I were simply enjoying the view.
Anyway, we learned that owning big jugs isn’t really a requirement to work at Hooters. Some girls in there weren’t as gifted in that department, although they did have killer legs. Augh. I’m so jealous.
Saturday
Another trip to the Camarillo outlet mall. It’s after Thanksgiving so they had huge sales. People came in droves — families, friends, couples. Coach even had to go as far as allowing only a number of people inside the store, which meant everybody else had to stand in line and wait outside. And what a line it was! Ate Epie wanted a purse so bad so she and Kuya Mike stood in line, while Jon, Cait, Gray, and me just waited… and waited.
I don’t get it, though. If I’m gonna buy a Coach purse, I’m gonna buy it because it’s classy, useful, and different. I’m not gonna buy one just because it’s a brand that everybody knows and everybody else is gonna have one… But that’s just me.
Sunday
We went to The Grove in LA again, where we saw Fred Stoller, a not-so-popular actor, whose casting credits include Little Man, Rebound, and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. He was just there with somebody I don’t know and I overheard something about VH1. *shrug* Anyway, they just ate and left. My back was towards them so I wasn’t really paying attention.
Oh yeah. The place had its ginormous tree up in the center. By far the biggest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen in my life.
* * *
Today I went with Ate Epie and Gray to the mall. I bought a belt and a pair of jeans at Old Navy, which I almost didn’t get because I forgot my debit card’s PIN. Haha! Lots and lots of cute outfits in there. God, if only I had the money…
It’s getting colder by the day! I was watching the Weather Channel and we’re gonna be having below-freezing temperatures at night starting tomorrow, which means if I go out in the middle of the night and pee, it’s going to freeze. XD I’m so not looking forward to it. I’m actually surprised that I haven’t died yet because we haven’t started using the house heater.
Anywho, I smell muffins and pumpkin pie. Welcome to fathood, Cami!
Hooters!

Thanksgiving Day!
November 23, 2006HAPPY TURKEY DAY!
Since it’s my first Thanksgiving, we made an extra special meal! Of course we had the traditional turkey, cranberries, olives, gravy and stuffing. We also had some glazed ham and mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had some cheesecake, pumpkin pie, and trifle. And I think Ate Epie is gonna make some apple pie later, too… YUMMEH!
Will post pictures as soon as I upload them from my digicam.

Anyway, I spent most of the afternoon making audio CDs for Ate Epie. At first she didn’t believe me when I said I could make an audio CD with MP3s via Nero. I made a believer out of her when I came up with one. Hehe. I ended up burning six audio CDs, and I’m far from being done. Will work on the rest tomorrow.
Re: Peechur!
November 20, 2006Em: “your bed on a saturday morning.
”
Specially un-made to make it more realistic. Haha! I took the picture as soon as I jumped out of bed. There’s Cody, who’s there to wake me up, Christmas (my polar bear), my iPod, and underneath all that, the remote and my cellphone.
Au: “the house you’re staying at! especially your bedroom (similar to what was requested earlier)”
I blurred the house number for security purposes (Yuck, as if! Haha). Yes, we have a flagpole. The house used to be the leasing office and it was a model home! Oh, they decided not to put a Philippine flag because it would look as if we’re the freaking Philippine embassy and they didn’t want to put an American flag either because the law requires that it should be lit at night. Anyway, here it is! o/’ Our house… in the middle of our street! o/’
Soundtrack Of My Life
IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend your cool…just type it in man!

Peechur! (from Em)
November 16, 2006“Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you’re
interested in/curious about - it can be anything from the house I live
in to my favourite shoes.
Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them in an LJ entry as a reply to your request. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.”
Fatherly talk
November 15, 2006Tito Rey (Ate Epie’s dad) passed by the house late in the afternoon yesterday. He was telling me of a possible income-generating situation and after a while we got to talking about other things.
He talked about his life when he first came here. He was well-off back in the Philippines — he owned a gas station and lived in a nice house — but he still came here. He endured having to work mediocre jobs. As years passed he slowly found himself getting better jobs with better pay, until finally, he got a job at American Airlines. He has since retired from that job (actually, just last February).
He then talked about his family, his marriage to Tita Baby, and their life here. He told me that God gave him 80% of what he had wanted and he only had to work harder for the other 20%. He wanted to marry a pretty girl and he got it. He wanted a family, and he got it. He wanted to live a nice life, he worked for it. He knew that he can’t get everything he wanted and yet he considers himself very lucky. And he is.
He told me that before he got married (or was it after?), his father told him never to hurt his wife (physically). If he does, his father would be the first to hurt him. And he never did hurt Tita Baby. Never. They had their shouting matches for sure, but it never became physical. They were married for 40+ years until Tita Baby died last July.
And then he told me not to change the way I am with what I do and how I deal with people. Goodness always wins out in the end, take the high road even if it’s hard, and never take advantage of people or step on anyone’s toes. Of course I already knew these things — I’ve known them since they taught Christian Living in grade school. But I found it quite refreshing and reassuring to be told the same things again. Re-learning something good is certainly better than slowly un-learning it.
An orange and two lemon candies later, Ate Epie came home and they talked for a while. They were discussing the future and my future, which was kind of disconcerting, but I’m grateful that I have people here who truly care about me. It feels like they’ve been more of a family to me than my own and it’s kind of sad to think about it. I’ve yet to hear from my mom (she rarely calls to ask how I am) or my brothers (who are busy with their peachy lives and calls mine crap), and my dad doesn’t even know where I am. So yeah, I’m glad that I have Ate Epie and Tito Rey and everyone else to turn to for support. After all the crap I’ve been through, I’m still very lucky.
Full house
November 12, 2006This house is just jampacked with people! Grayden is due back from Colorado tonight and Jeff (Jon and Cait’s dad) is sleeping over. Par-tay.
I have no idea if Jeff is staying with us for a while, because there seem to be a few issues regarding that, but we’ll see what happens in the next couple of days.
I’m not too excited about Grayden coming back home, truth be told. I was miserable enough being by myself during weekdays that I really don’t need the added discomfort. I know that our friendship, so to speak, started in the worst way possible, and I know that it would take time for us to get comfortable around each other again. But as time passes, I get to know him, his quirks, his personality… I simply realized that under normal circumstances, I would’ve not liked him, anyway. I mean, I would’ve not liked being around him that much. He’s fine as a friend or a co-worker, but not as a housemate. I know it’s kind of cold to be putting it that way, but that’s how I really feel. *shrug*
Ah, well. Tomorrow’s another day. The same shit all over again. C’est la vie.
Show breaks
November 9, 2006I hate it when my favorite shows go on hiatus. Ugh!
Lost isn’t returning ’til February and Prison Break will be on hiatus after November 27 and will not return on screen until March. WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY?! *bawls*

In the meantime, bow before the Wentworth!

Ninjai
November 7, 2006It’s a lovely Tuesday morning if it weren’t for the utterly excruciating feeling of boredom that I’m currently trying to tolerate. The sun is up, the weather is fantastic, and there’s plenty of food in the fridge. But, I’m alone in the house, only surfing the web to pass time and eating a cup of nonfat yogurt…
Anyway, has anyone seen Ninjai: The Little Ninja? About two or three years ago, James introduced the short animated film to me and I loved it. I remember that at the time, there were only 11 chapters out. Today, I suddenly recalled watching it so I visited the Ninjai website. Chapter 12 has been available for quite some time! Since it’s been years, I watched all 12 chapters and I loved every second of it. The Gang is still working on chapter 13 and I don’t know when they’re releasing it. Currently, they’re also working on a live action adventure project called Karma Kula. I’ve seen the trailer and it looks promising.
