I love Monday nights
October 30, 2006Prison Break and Heroes later! Glee! I get to see my hot TV boyfriend (aka Wentworth) again.
I’m so excited to find out what’s gonna happen next in Prison Break (Will Mahone and Kellerman continue to work with each other? Will Michael and Sara have sex? Haha, kidding.) and Heroes (Will Niki be able to finally control ikiN? When are all the “heroes” going to meet?). Woo!
It should be a good night.
Playlist refresh, Tita Baby, and Pinoy food
October 29, 2006Been downloading some songs the past couple of days via Boker (Thanks, Bok!) and Livejournal (hehe, I love fanmixes). Looking forward to listening to all of them!
Most of the songs I have right now are from the Garden State movie soundtrack. Should be good.

Today I went to Forest Lawn to visit Tita Baby’s grave with Ate Epie, Kuya Charlie, Tito Rey, Ate Nanette, and Chaz. It’s supposed to be her birthday tomorrow.
Tita Baby, wherever you are, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Just please don’t scare me at night.
We had lunch at Salu-Salo Grill in Glendale, where Jill and Ashley (Kuya Charlie’s daughters) joined us. I finally got to eat kare-kare, grilled squid, crispy pata, and boneless bangus! Yummeh!
Right now I’m still so full from what I ate at lunch that I just had a cup of yogurt for dinner. Hehe. So worth it! STILL! Gerry’s Grill forevar!!!
So gay and funny
October 18, 2006William Sledd is a funny gay man. I was just looking around YouTube for videos and I came upon his “Ask A Gay Man: Denim Edition” video. I don’t know what it is, but I just find it hilarious when he starts talking about fashion dos and don’ts, baking pink cupcakes for breast cancer awareness, and going “Love ya, bitches!”
But I still couldn’t believe he just turned 23 last October 11, which, coincidentally, is National Coming Out Day. Haha!

This computer sucks. It doesn’t play Windows Media at all, something about WM Technologies being incompatible with some shit or other. It has been a problem since forever (I think even before I got here). I tried looking it up on the internet, and turns out that some of the system files may be corrupted. Now I need the original WinXP CD to fix the problem and I’m not even sure if they have it here. Ugh.

It’s amazing how my sanity is still intact after six months of sitting on my ass doing nothing but think, watch tv, go on the internet, think, mind the house, cook, think, read, and did I mention “think”?

I’m so excited! New episodes of Lost and The Nine later!
Weekend Recap
October 16, 2006Today is my sister’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELISE!
* * *
Went to Santa Barbara last Saturday. I’m so bummed that I forgot to bring my camera with me because I saw a lot of cute guys. Bwahaha!
State Street and its surrounding areas are just great. It’s just the perfect place for downtown shopping, people-watching, and if you’re one for the night life, bar-hopping. I didn’t buy anything because I’m running low on moolah, but I did get to worship designer bags. Geh. We also saw people with snakes, lots of snakes, trying to raise money for whatever. I wanted to have a snake put on my shoulder but the rest of my group were so grossed out and wanted to leave so that was that.
While Ate Epie was busy at the Coach store, we were outside, and across the street there was this guy playing his guitar for money. He picked a good spot, too, because he was just right outside a coffee shop (I think it was the Coffee Bean). Anyway, some of his stuff were good. He had a nice, loud voice, which explains why I could hear him all the way from the other side of the street. I didn’t get to see his face because his back was facing us, but I saw that he had a tattoo on his nape.
I saw a lot of other interesting people while sitting outside the stores waiting.
There were a couple of topless guys walking around (it was a bit cold). One was with a buddy and he had tats on his chest. Another one was with his girlfriend and his dog. The latter actually smiled at me while he was waiting for his girl (who went inside the shoe store). The dog was cute and I learned that his name is Cory (I overheard the guy telling some passers-by who asked for the dog’s name).
There were also a group of angry poser kids wearing all black stuff. They were loud, especially this one girl who kept on screaming her fugly head off. I imagined her getting hit by a bus a la Mean Girls. Haha!
A middle-aged couple who were casually, but elegantly dressed, also passed by one time. I’m guessing they’re one of the rich folks. The man was holding a camera and as they passed by Coach, he pointed to the store and said to the woman, “Coach. Go.” And she went. There’s really nothing out of the ordinary with the scene, it’s just the way the man said it. Men on a budget just don’t say to their wives “Go and buy an expensive purse.” They say: “Do you really need another purse?”. Yeah, normal people don’t just go inside a Coach store and buy a 400-dollar purse.
Anyway, after a few hours of walking around we were beat. We tried to look for nice seafood restaurants around town, but since we didn’t know the place, we ended up on the freeway going to Ventura. Ventura’s on the way back, anyway. So then we found this place called Andria’s. It wasn’t the best seafood I’ve had, but it was still good. I like Captain Kidd’s at Redondo Beach better. But the best one would still be King’s Fish House in Calabasas. Yum!

Watched The Departed yesterday with Kuya Mike, Ate Epie, Ate Cris, and Kuya Ronan. I liked it. It was kinda slow at first (I nearly fell asleep), but when the movie started to pick up, boy, did it pick up. Oh, and thank you Lord for giving Leo some muscles and facial hair. I hated the skinny-ass, “teen idol” look. Jack Nicholson is still my man, though. He was just fun to watch. Matt and Mark were good, too.
Birthdays and then some
October 13, 2006Yesterday was Ate Epie and Kuya Edward’s birthday. I called Kuya to greet him. If we were in the Philippines I would’ve been at his house by morning already, but right now I could only talk to him. The gang over here (meaning Kuya Mike, Ate Epie, Jon, Cait, and Gray.. yeah, he lives with us now) and I were already on our way to dinner when I called him, and he said that they’re doing the exact same thing. That’s cool, I guess.
Anyway, for dinner we went to Famous Dave’s. I had the 4-bone St. Louis-style ribs with corn muffin, corn-on-the-cob, Famous Fries, and Drunkin’ apples. YUMMEH! To top it off, I had a glass of their Very Berry Margarita. Solve!
Today is my mom’s birthday. Lucky 13. We were at Denny’s for breakfast and we called her. I’m glad she and Elise (my sister) are doing okay. By the way, Elise’s birthday is on Monday the 16th.
Speaking of Denny’s, Kuya Mike and Ate Epie were setting me up with a guy they know there today. Or at least, they were trying to. I was so embarrassed that I just wanted to disappear like a bubble. Kuya Mike even had to go as far as telling Kris (the guy) that “[I] need an escort to show [me] around town”. And Kris just laughed and said, “It’s up to her”. I could’ve died right then and there. Haha. Oh, well. And then they went on to talk about cars.
We’re supposed to get the van back from the shop today. I miss that car. It’s been in that place for more than two months now. That fucker who rear-ended us should be peeing in his pants by now, what with all the damage he’s done, he should be shelling out thousands of dollars. Hah. We’ll see…
Good Food, Bad Table
October 10, 2006So we just had dinner. The food was great. We had chicken noodle soup, breaded pork steaks, rice, mashed potatoes, and some veggies. For dessert, Ate Epie made baklava.
The sad thing about tonight’s dinner was that as soon as all six of us sat down around the table, I immediately felt this tension. I don’t know why, but every time Kuya Mike sat with us at the table (usually he eats in his room or in front of the TV), I feel like something bad is gonna come down. It rarely happens but tonight it did.
It’s been more than half an hour since dinner ended, and they’re all still at it. They all go into this spiel saying one should’ve done this, one should never do that, “but mom…!”, rules are getting bent, rules are not being followed, “but mom…!”, and all that crap. Most of it isn’t any of my business, so I stay out of it. I know my rules and boundaries in the house and I need not be reminded. I’m glad they leave me alone when it comes to that. More often than not, when they all start bickering and shit, I just cover my ears and hum to myself. I’ve heard the same speeches for the 50 billionth time, and I think I’ve had enough of their bickering.
It can’t be helped to witness these things and know what I know because I live with these people. That’s why I miss living alone. Sure, living with family has its perks and joys, but nothing compares to living on your own, creating your own rules, being yourself in your own space, and doing what you want. I guess that’s the trade-off for some of the decisions I had to make for the past few months… I’m just hoping that it’s temporary.
Anyway, I’m so full. I wonder what’s in store for us tomorrow. Living in this house, you’ll never know. I just keep on guessing. I suppose it’s one of the “good” things about living here. It’s kiiind of exciting, but not really. But it definitely keeps me on my toes. I hate screwing up, especially here. So far I have a nigh-perfect record and I’m not about to fuck that up.

It’s now 11:05AM and it’s 63F outside. Ohmygodimgonnadiethiswinter.

Yesterday Ate Epie and I went down to the valley with Kuya Mike. We dropped him off at work. Had breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe near the mall. I also got to meet Ate Epie’s best friend, Patty. She’s this sweet, petite woman (4′10″?) and a former jarhead (wow!). Went back to the mall and naturally, Ate Epie made a beeline for the MAC counter at Macy’s. Haha. I ended up buying a couple of stuff for myself, too. Dammit.
We picked up Kuya Mike around 1pm and stopped over at Miller Honda in Van Nuys to have his sun visor installed. After that we went to the new Westfield mall in Topanga (they just opened that day). It sucked. Most of the restaurants/dining places were closed - only CPK and Red Robin were open. The music was also very loud that you have to talk over it to hear each other. Anyway, we had lunch at Red Robin. Ate Epie bought more make-up stuff at the MAC store, then we went home.
It was a good day.
Updating my life
October 4, 2006I got a haircut last night at the mall. It’s been a while since I had my hair done. I like that it’s cleaner, healthier, and lighter now. I just hate the fact that it cost me 50 freaking dollars (plus a five dollar tip to my stylist) just for the fucking haircut.
Wearing make-up can be a trip. I feel better about myself. It’s like roleplaying, only that I’m roleplaying myself… with make-up. (Jesus Christ, I’m not making any sense!) Anyway, I’m liking it and somewhat getting used to it. Just bugs me that eyeliner and mascara are tough to remove. Blegh.

It was Kuya Mike and Ate Epie’s anniversary the other day. They went out to dinner so they left me in-charge of dinner for the house. I made French Pork Roast and salad. Yummy! The pork roast was great with applesauce. It’s easy to make, too!
Having my appetite back may be more of a curse than a blessing. I’ve been eating non-stop, like I haven’t eaten for years. Right after eating meat and soup for dinner, I had a mug of ice cream and followed it up with a nectarine a few minutes later. Now I’m feeling hungry again and it’s already 10:20pm. This morning I’ve been munching on some chewy chocolate chip cookies while on the road to and from LA (as if the humongous roast beef sandwich I had for brunch wasn’t enough). Oh, well.
* * *
We also passed by Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills today to visit Tita Baby’s grave. When we arrived it was really sunny but the air felt nice. It wasn’t that warm. A few minutes later some clouds gave us the shade that we needed, as if Tita Baby made it so. Ate Epie, Caitlin, and I were the only ones on that part of the park and it was peaceful up there. It has a great view of the hills and the sky. It was just perfect.

Just watched the season premiere of Lost! Eeeee!
They’re now showing the series premiere of The Nine but I’m so sleepy I just might watch it tomorrow online. (Thank you, ABC!)
Y-eah. Byebye.
Distractions
October 1, 2006I bought myself a kickass white leather jacket yesterday from the Cabazon outlet mall. At first I fell in love with the chocolate suede blazer/jacket from Liz Claiborne but it was a bit more expensive. Both are fantastic pieces, and if I had the money, I would’ve just bought both of them. But alas, I could only pick one. *sigh* Earlier today I also bought an Anne Klein cable sweater from Sam’s Club. Yes, I’ve been stocking up on sweaters and jackets since fall began. I don’t want to end up like a popsicle this coming winter. My next clothing purchase? Probably an eskimo jacket. I could already feel my tushie freezing. Brr.
* * *
Been watching the new ABC shows that I’ve missed online. It’s streaming, it’s free, and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me this week.
I’ve already finished Six Degrees and Ugly Betty. So far, so good!
* * *
I’ve finally made peace with one of the people living here. We talk now. And laugh. And make jokes. I’m starting to feel at home again. It still needs a little bit of work, but things like this can’t be rushed. I’m sure we’ll get there someday.
* * *
I’m eating right again. I got my appetite back. Time to control myself once more. Yikes!
